    Overview

    The M’Goun mountain, also rendered as Ighil Mgoun / Ighil M’Goun / Irhil M’Goun , Ighil n’Oumsoud, Jebel Mgoun, Jebel Ighil M’Goun and Jebel Aït M’goun, at 4,071 metres (13,356 ft) is the fourth highest peak of the Atlas Mountains (After Toubkal, Timzguida and Ouenkrim).

    It is an ultra prominent peak located in the Drâa-Tafilalet region of Morocco.

     

    Day 1: Marrakech – Azilal – The valley of Ait Bougmez – Overnight at the inhabitant village Hdida (1750m)

    Departure from Marrakech is scheduled at 8 am morning towards Azilal, the door of the high central atlas. Then direction Oughbar pass at 2200m altitude before descending by a narrow mountain road. We are in the heart of the valley of Ait Bouguemez; homestay accommodation in Hdida. Welcome to Berber by a mint tea. Then free ride through the houses and fields of the villages. Dinner prepared by Berber family. Night at the cottage. 5h30 drive.

     

    Day 2: Hadida to Alemdoun (6 hours walk)

    We start the first day of hiking enjoying the views of the Berber city Hadida, once a thriving Jewish community, now rich in its unique history, then through the mountain village Jbel Mogltat (2200m) to arrive in the Valley of the Thousand kasbah. The group will stop for a picnic near the entrance to the Agouti Gorge. After lunch, we continue through the gorge, then arrive at Alemdoun Village and spend the night in bivouac.

     

    Day 3: Alemdoun to amassine (6 hours walk)

    After having a traditional breakfast the group starts the day of sightseeing and exploring ancient kasbahs and enjoying the fun of the Berber towns and traditions along our way. We stop to picnic in a beautiful green area with a variety of trees near the river banks, then continue on our way to amassine and night in bivouac.

     

    Day 4: amassine to Ifri n Ait Hammou (7 hours walk) 

    This stage has another wonderful day of hiking from amassine and ending Ifri n Ait Hammou. During this stage, we discover the beauty of the Berber cities with different points of view where and the group has a refreshing picnic. The trek progresses with a hike to M’goun mountain the second highest in Morocco (4071m). The group spends the night in an extended bivouac where the group can discover some Berber animals such as sheep and donkey.

     

    Day 5: Ifri n Ait Hammou to Ameskar (6 hours walk)

    After breakfast we walk to the bend / pass of Tizi Nwochen (3200m), a small but beautiful pass, then walking down into the attractive valley known for its beautiful waterfalls. After the picnic we continue to reach Ameskar where we sleep in an Auberg.

     

    Day 6: Ameskar to Tinvian (6 hours walk)

    Departure in the morning, the group crosses Ameskar Valley, full of rugged terrain, before going directly to reach the wonderful Amajgag Gorge. We picnic in the end surface of the throat. After lunch, we trek upwards through a small mountain of sand with a variety of soil colors before entering Tinvian, a splendid village located in the middle of the mountain. Night in bivouac.

     

    Day 7: Tinvian to Issoumar (6 hours walk)

    Departure in the morning to cross the Esomar mountain. We picnic on the mountain where the group can enjoy the richest view. Then we go down to Ait Youl in the Valley of Roses, and spend the rest of the day visiting the village. Overnight with a nomadic family.

     

    Day 8: Issoumar to Boutaghrare transfer to the hotel (4 hours walk)

    Walk to the Valley of Roses with a unique view of the cities and Berber villages filled with charm and warm weather. Arriving at the central part of the valley, in the city Boutaghrare. After a picnic, the group can experience steam bath, a traditional Turkish bath of inspiration in the village center of Kelaa M’gouna raised village and then back to the hotel.

     

    Day 9: The transfer of Boutaghrar – Marrakech

    Transfer from Boutaghrar we take the direction of Ouarzazat, we go through a beautiful road along the Atlas which crosses typical Berber villages before arriving at the small town of Kalâat Mgouna; the rose capital of Morocco. Then we will cross the Atlas by the Tizi N’Tichka pass, the highest pass of Morocco at 2260 meters above sea level before arriving in Marrakech. 6H drive.
